Report on the review of disabled people-led monitoring (2016/2017)
In 2016/2017, the Office for Disability Issues commissioned a review of disabled people-led monitoring in New Zealand. This was done by Malatest International.
The review looked at the effectiveness and efficiency of the ‘disabled people-led monitoring of their rights’ initiative and provided recommendations to inform future arrangements.

The Office for Disability Issues will be leading the next steps on improving disabled people-led monitoring under the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the New Zealand Disability Strategy 2016-2026 in consultation with the DPO Coalition and other interested stakeholders.
