The Hon Priyanca Radhakrishnan has been named as the new Minister for Disability Issues today, ahead of Hon Poto Williams’s departure from politics.

Minister Radhakrishnan spent her work life advocating on behalf of people whose voices are often unheard – survivors of domestic violence, and migrant workers who have been exploited. She has worked with our diverse communities across Aotearoa and is committed to ensuring that their voices are heard in Parliament and that they’re supported to thrive.

She will also hold the portfolios for the Community and Voluntary Sector, and for Diversity, Inclusion and Ethnic Communities, as well as the associated portfolios of Social Development and Employment, and Workplace Relations and Safety.

We would like to acknowledge work of Poto Williams in the disability space, including the launch of Whaikaha - the Ministry of Disabled People.
